Yes, Farmers Insurance has filed for yet another homeowners rate increase.  According to the Dallas Morning News, Farmers filed for a 3.9 percent increase which would affect half of its customers in Texas.  The new rates will go into effect in March and will affect about 324,000 customers.  "A filing by Farmers with the Texas Department of Insurance indicated that rates have increased on the Texas Family Home Policy about 12.3 percent since May 2008. However, they are not the only insurance company that has filed for rate increases.  Texas Windstorm Insurance Association adds insult to injury by also having a rate increase effective January 1, 2011 for Commercial, Farm and Ranch, Builder's Risk, and Residential Dwelling policies.  On a more positive note, we do have several insurance carriers who offer windstorm coverage on their homeowners and dwelling policies, so you would not need a separate windstorm policies.  Call us for a quote and compare policies
